This is Damian McGillicuddys personal guilty pleasure, its a way he relaxes and keeps his love of photography developing outside of commercial commissions.
No matter the weather or time of year this is a creative field of photography anybody with a table top can participate in.
This is a hands on education experience. Not only will you get great portfolio images but you’ll learn how to build the set and construct the shot.
A variety of lighting equipment will be used on the day from reflectors, to continuous lights, strobes to speed lights so there are tips and techniques that everybody will be able to learn and take away to use in their own environment.
Together we will explore all the subtleties to take your macro and table top photography to the next level.
We will look at:
- What makes good macro subjects
- effective ways to light the subject
- Choice of backgrounds
- dressing the set for effect
- depth of field and its effects also discussing focus stacking
- camera controls to master.
No previous knowledge of shooting macro is needed but a basic understanding of aperture, shutter and ISO would be an advantage.
A dedicated macro lens or camera with macro function is advised, Olympus users will be able to use our macro lenses if it is desired.
The most important thing to bring is a desire to learn and a disposition to have fun shooting in the studio within this exciting field
