Another short but sweet post, as I’m MASSIVELY excited about these images and couldn’t wait to share them with you!
Here are a few dishes I cooked up in the studio recently, shooting on my Olympus E-M5 Mark II with a 42.5mm f0.95 Voigtlander lens, using just a single light and a couple of secret special ingredients.
I’ve got to say, especially with my eyes, the “focus peaking” on my OM-D opens up so much creativity for me in allowing the use of manual focus lenses like the Voigtlander that simply would be unusable to me as my eyes alone would no longer give me consistency in the results needed.
All I can say is “Thank God for focus peaking” and thank God for Olympus! I’m amazed, humbled and ultimately grateful for the incredible technology crammed into these logistically perfect micro 4/3’s bodies.
Focus peaking makes the magic imaging combo of Olympus and Voigtlander just work!
How secret and special are the ingredients? Well, these might just be the first test images for our next austerity busting workshop, so keep your eyes on the blog and social media to see when you can come into the kitchen with me and cook these up yourself ;0)
The challenge I’d set myself was to get the maximum high end “Big budget” look from the minimum of equipment, I wanted to first understand, then control the light to produce a more polished look than you’d give the light source and modifiers, if they can be called that, credit for. You may disagree but for me its mission accomplished!
Best,
D
