Well that’t it, The Photography Show 2019 has come to an end.
I LOVE the show, its fabulous to interact with the “Photo public”, old friends, new friends and my trade partners.
Firstly, I’ve got to say some really BIG thank you’s
As many of you know I’ve set myself a goal to raise some money for a local hospice as tribute to those I love and have lost. The Photography Show were AWESOME in allowing me to shoot and support my program. Also a huge thanks to those who spent time with me and made donations – you are ALL AWESOME!
Then I have to give One Vision Imaging a HUGE thumbs up on several accounts.

I LOVED giving my live stage demo on behalf of Permajet. Concept, capture, create was a hugely satisfying thing to do live. To talk about the creative process, shoot an image LIVE, throw it through lightroom and print it out right there and then was a rush.
BIG thanks to Permajet and Canon for their help and support, using the Canon IPF 1000 was a pleasure, lovely prints.
The crowd was BIG who listened live, we also got a friend in the crowd to record it for those that couldn’t get a seat or make the slot… its a long video and I talk a lot of crap around the few little “Golden nuggets” but we think its worth the watch.
This was the slide show from my talk showing a little diversity from my image making.
On Monday I was back talking “live”, this time, talking a little business, my favourite subject. I was on the wedding and portrait stage on behalf of Olympus. Again my team broadcast it live on Facebook, if I’d have known their intention I’d have probably put a suit on!

So here are the images shot around the NEC on one of my charity photowalks. It always humbles and amazes me to think what you can create with just a couple of simple speedlights, it is never all about the equipment, the more you spend doesn’t necessarily guarantee better images. These were created with 2 Modus 600RT’s the “Key” light in a Lastolite “Hot rod” strip box and the “accent” light is controlled with a set of Lastolite magnetic grids. The slightly skewed colour is courtesy of the vintage art filter built into the OM-D.
My favourite image was created with the 8mm fish eye lens, I love the distortion! The “accent” light was EV-1 to the “Key” and I “Dragged the shutter”, used a slow shutter speed, to allow the ambient light to effect the image and raise the density of the shadow and lower the contrast.
At the last photoshoot I dropped Lesley in it and said I’d produce 10 limited edition prints from the shoot as a bit of a thank you – I’ve changed my mind!
We are going to extend the edition to 20. Anybody who would like one can have one. All you have to do is swap me a donation of a MINIMUM of £25.00 for Halton Haven Hospice and its yours. I’m trying to help the hospice raise vital funds to do what it does in a tribute to the loved ones I’ve lost to cancer. Cancer is such an evil disease and the statistic I believe is 1 in every 3 of us will sadly have dealings with in our lifetime, so please dig deep.
